This document addresses work instructions for how to set up GPS Location of punches with ESS Mobile. 

GPS Location of Punches

  1. All employees that have ESS Mobile installed on their phone will be able to punch.

  2. The employee must have their location turned on for the phone to know where they are punching from.  If the employee does not have their location turned on the message Prevented will appear. It indicates the phone has rejected the request to find the location (Figure 1).

  3. The employee must have the application open for a minute to communicate with the location setup on their phone or it will show all 00.00000’s (Figure 2).

  4. If you go to the employee’s time card and use the Pages drop down there is now an option Location Map (Figure 3).

  5. The map will show the last punch location. (example, the Test Employee, punched from TMS office) (Figure 4).

  6. Click on Details and it will take you to the timecard and the tab at the bottom of the page labeled GPS Registration (Figure 5).

  7. If the need arises to check older GPS coordinates it can be checked on GPS webpages. For example, https://www.gps-coordinates.net (Figure 6).

  8. Put the latitude and longitude information in and the map will give you the actual location (Figure 7).
